Men Wrote the Bible...

The assumption that because men wrote the Bible it is untrustworthy in its account of historical events is a wrong assumption.  Men can make errors and have been known to make errors, but that does not mean that everything they write will be in error.  If we believe that anything men write is untrustworthy we would be required to deem all history and academia as well as all personal memories untrustworthy.  These men who wrote the Bible were writing from first hand witness within 50 years of Jesus' death and resurrection; Paul's letters can be dated within 30 years.  What's more, these men were not simply inactive bystanders who caught a glimpse of someone who looked like Jesus. Take the gospel of John for example: John was Jesus' closest friend, he lived with Jesus throughout his entire ministry, listened to him teach every day, watched him preform miracles day after day, and after Jesus' resurrection ate with him.  Finally, being convinced that the Bible was written by God through the men that authored it, we can be sure not only that it is an accurate historical account but that it is sufficient for the edification of the saints.
